Of Bunnies and Hens

As you have seen in earlier posts, we have three adorable bunnies. During the winter months they live in little hutches in the garage, but my handy husband built "bunny condos" outside for their summer domiciles.
We have recently been trying to increase our animal diversity, while still keeping it manageable.  We decided to expand to chickens, laying hens specifically.  Nate (the ever handy and handsome) designed and began building a chicken house.
The chicken complex is directly across the porch from the "bunny condominiums."  I love his ingenious ideas.  He has made the laying boxes with outside doors, so that, theoretically, the girls and I don't have to go inside to gather the eggs.  We will have to go in for other things, but it was sweet of him to add this little feature for us.
He has designed an entrance from the chicken yard, based on some information in "chicken care" books he has been devouring.  As you can see below, we are getting quite the little animal farm in this corner of  our property.  I love it!!
