Bagels, I love them plain,
Or toasted.
I love them, all kinds,
The most.
Berry, spiced, cheese,
or herbed,
This boiled, baked crave
uncurbed.
Spread with cream cheese,
or butter.
Made in a sandwich?!
I'm aflutter.
This delectable bread
can do no wrong.
Love and adore them
life long.
The girls and I had such fun making this batch of plain bagels.
#2 Daughter had a little bit harder time with the shaping of them.
Big sister helped her get the hang of it.
Soon they were ready to boil.
We added a touch of sugar to the boiling water.
There is something satisfying about baking ones own bagels, even more than bread.
The sugar did it's job and the bagels browned perfectly. The inspector is searching for her "baby bagels."
Eureka!
The "baby bagels" were not nearly big enough, so one of the "mommy bagels" had to be split, toasted, and spread with jam.
Look ma! I made it myself!
They were quite a hit! I want to try blueberry bagels in the future, but I want to add some blueberry extract to help flavor the dough itself. I went to the gourmet cooking store in town and they didn't have any. Does anyone have an idea of where to get some? Until then, I will try my new butter vanilla emulsion and cinnamon raisin bagel ideas!
