I love the days gone by, be it Anne of Green Gables, Little House On the Prairie, or anything Jane Austen.
So when I read that my local library would be having a Laura Ingall's Wilder day, complete with dancing to "Pa's" fiddle music, butter "churning," games, and stories, I was ecstatic!
I told friends and family in hopes that they were as besotted as I with these "Happy Golden Years."
They were. Unfortunately, my sister in law could not make it (due to emergency surgery), but I was caring for the children and they were able to come and enjoy the experience.
One of my friends came over and we made bonnets for some of the girls. It was so much fun and we felt so domestic! For those interested, the pattern we used (and altered a bit) was Butterick B4569.
When the time finally came (because it seemed an age to wait) to attend the affair, four of us were able to attend. We were surprised at how many adults were in attendance.
The librarians were shocked at the number of children who came. I personally think that there were more than a few children who were dragged along by adults who needed a child with whom to attend the "children's activity. "
I found some books about Laura and her family and era that I had not yet read. We . . . ahem . . . I mean the children danced, made butter, played games and had a fantastic time (as did we all).

That looks like so much fun! Did the grown ups wear bonnets too? I still have my bonnet that I made for your harvest party several years ago, and I totally would have worn it.
Dorina, this is great! I'm so glad that you are blogging all of this wonderfulness. The bonnets turned out amazing.
