Christmas Eve we had planned to celebrate with my husband's parents by opening gifts from family and friends in their area and finish reciting our advent calendar story of Christmas. . . . note the garbage can and the blanket. . . yes that is for vomit primarily and wrapping paper secondarily. Things didn't go as planned. Our eldest started vomiting in the early afternoon.

I'm not exactly sure what she was upset about, unless it was because she wanted the whole candy cane and I would only let her have a piece, mean mommy that I am. BWAAHAHAHAHA . . .

This was the last photo I was able to take (of my father and mother-in-law) that evening before things came to a rather rapid halt when our second daughter started vomiting uncontrollably in the middle of the living room, all over the gifts. Thankfully the "barf can" was close by to quickly catch most of it.  I, however, used all the rest of my odor/stain remover getting the stuff out of the carpet. We got the girls situated on the couch, which had been covered in waterproof mattress covers, and placed "barf buckets" on a layer of towels next to their heads.  I spent most of the night sleeping on the living room floor helping them not choke on . . . well, you know.  I finally crawled into bed at about 4:00 am, only to hear my poor husband and father-in-law "utilizing the facilities." They were sick all that night and all Christmas Day. My mother-in-law, sweet lady, was nauseated all night and day also, but still spoiled me by doing my dishes and laundry.

The girls were feeling much better by the next morning, well enough to open their stockings and enjoy the contents then and there. I love the expressions on their faces in these pictures. I like to keep the stockings simple and a little old-fashioned. I fill them with one small toy, socks, fruit, and cheese.  The girls wait all year for the little cheeses wrapped in wax.  I think they enjoy unwrapping the wax almost as much as they enjoy eating the cheese.

Our youngest LOVES "gummies." She doesn't care what kind they are. Sometimes she will even eat raisins, thinking they are precious "gummies." She was content to sit and eat her little package of them and leave everything else in her stocking.

Here they all are, Christmas morning, stockings opened, happily eating their treats (and offering to share with mommy).

She finally opened the rest of her stocking and found socks, something she usually is excited about. . . then went back to the gummies.

Grandma came out and was forced to open her stocking and see what the girls had received as well. Note the hiked up pajama leg to show ALL of the sock! I love it, too cute!!

That afternoon daddy and grandpa felt well enough to get up for a little while. The girls were eager to watch them open their stockings (and in one case even wear grandpa's new hat)!
